How to do the Window Dance trend

Make it from one photo with AI

  1. Pick one clear photo of yourself (one adult per video).
  2. Upload one clear photo. Face visible, good light, nothing covering the face.
  3. Confirm the photo is yours or that everyone in it agreed, then tap Start my video.
  4. Check your appearance preview in the reference window scene. Retry or swap the photo (up to 3 tries) until it looks like you.
  5. Approve it. The reference video then guides the dance and camera, while your preview guides the appearance. Rendering can take several minutes.
  6. Download the MP4 and post it to TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

Waist-up or full-body photos give the best dancing. Tight selfies work, but the model has to invent more of your body and outfit.

Use the CapCut template

  1. Open a Window Dance post on TikTok and tap the CapCut "Try this template" link above the username.
  2. Tap Use template in CapCut.
  3. Pick your photo, let CapCut process it, then export.
  4. Post with the template sound and the trend hashtags.

Templates only swap the face. The dancing body, the room and the moves stay the same in every video, and templates can disappear or stop working in some regions. Our CapCut template guide covers the common problems.

Film it for real

  • Only film your own window, with the dancer in on it.
  • Turn off every light except one warm lamp in the room.
  • Film from outside at night, start wide, and zoom in slowly by hand.
  • Cue the dancer to "notice" you, grin and close the curtain at about 9 seconds.

Caption, sound and posting

Keep the caption short and in on the joke. The MP4 includes the reference soundtrack. You can select another platform sound when posting.
